Continuous data in the river-to-sea continuum was enquired. Environmental data had to originate from the same water body as the biodiversity data. Data was excluded, if the data type or parameter was unclear, if coordinates of the sampling location were missing and could not be retraced, if units were missing or if there were uncertainties about the sampling.",
